Robert Stone, author of “Damascus Gate,” the 1998 novel about apocalyptic conspiracies in Jerusalem, will publish his first novel in a decade in November, his publisher said Thursday.

The new book will be titled “Death of the Black-Haired Girl” and is set on a New England college campus, the publisher, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, said.

At 75, Mr. Stone is the author of seven novels, including “A Flag for Sunrise,” “Children of Light” and “Dog Soldiers,” which won the National Book Award in 1975. His 1997 collection of short stories, “Bear and His Daughter,” was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.

Mr. Stone’s work is known for dark portrayals of American men as they disintegrate under social pressure.

In 2006, Mr. Stone also published “Prime Green,” a memoir about his friendship with Ken Kesey’s Merry Prankster crew and his experience of 1960s San Francisco.
