A decade after he began work on it, A. Scott Berg, the author of best-selling biographies of Katharine Hepburn and Charles Lindbergh, has finished his biography of Woodrow Wilson. Titled âWilson,â it will be published in September, G. P. Putnamâs Sons said Thursday.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the first inauguration of Wilson as president. In his 10 years of working on the book, Mr. Berg not only had access to the Wilson archive, his publisher said, but also to two major caches of personal letters - from Wilsonâs daughter and from his personal physician.
âFrom this material, Berg was able to add countless details - even several unknown events - that fill in missing pieces of Wilsonâs character and cast new light on his entire life,â Putnam said in a statement.
Mr. Berg, 63, is the author of four previous books. âMax Perkins: Editor of Geniusâ (1978) won the National Book Award, and âLindberghâ (1998) won the Pulitzer Prize. His biographical memoir of Ktharine Hepburn, âKate Rememberedâ was a No.1 bestseller during the summer of 2003.
