World Book Night, the publishing industryâs massive annual book giveaway, will be celebrated on Tuesday in 28 events across the country. This year, 500,000 books will be handed out in nursing homes, schools, firehouses and diners, among other places, in an effort to lure people who read rarely or not at all.
The books, which include âThe Handmaidâs Taleâ by Margaret Atwood, âThe Alchemistâ by Paulo Coelho, âLooking for Alaskaâ by John Green and âMy Antoniaâ by Willa Cather, were selected by a panel of booksellers and librarians and donated by publishers, retailers and libraries.
