Vampires rise and so does Rob Zombie in this yearâs Midnighters lineup at the South by Southwest film festival. The program will include nine after-dark films that either wallow in the creepy or bask in the crazy.
Bloodsuckers are major characters in two of the offerings: âHaunter,â which stars Aigail Breslin as a teenage vampire, and âKiss of the Damned,â about one who falls for a human screenwriter.
The lineup also includes the world premieres of âPlus One,â about a party that is disrupted by a supernatural phenomenon, and âBig Ass Spider!,â about, well, you know.
A few bloody selections from the Toronto International Film Festival will make their way to South By audiences, including Rob Zombieâs âLords of Salemâ (which heads to theaters April 19) and âYouâre Next,â the Adam Wingard horror comedy.
South by Southwest also announced its full lineup of shorts, in narrative, documentary, animation, midnight and music categories. The festivalâs full lineup of films can be found here.
