NEW YORK—While we don't get a chance to cover them all that much, we are big fans of robots at Ars. So when presented with the chance to stop by ATX East (the Automated Technology eXpo) recently, we quickly agreed to spend the day hanging out with some industrial robots. The best thing at the show was definitely Baxter, a humanoid robot designed to replace a factory worker, but there were plenty of interesting robotics projects to experience.

Besides the robots, the rest of the show was full of really cool industrial equipment. It was as if the TV show How It's Made hosted an expo. We saw everything from robotic arms to desktop x-ray machines, 3D printers to robotic guitars. Above is a gallery of everything that caught our interest.

And since a lot of this stuff looks way better in motion, we shot some video. Most of the descriptions of what is going on are in the gallery, but below you can enjoy the awesome robot noises and movements.
