Who needs to wait another three years to choose Americaâs second-in-command? Not HBO, thatâs for sure: on Wednesday, that cable network announced that it was ordering a third season of âVeep,â its comedy series starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus as the Vice President of the United States. In its first season in 2012, âVeep,â created by Armando Iannucci (the author of the political satires âThe Thick of Itâ and âIn the Loopâ) was an Emmy nominee for outstanding comedy; Ms. Louis-Dreyfus, an Emmy winner for her performances on âSeinfeldâ and âThe New Adventures of Old Christine,â earned her third such award for portraying the âVeepâ title character, Selina Meyer. âVeepâ was just three episodes into its second season (which started on on April 14) when HB announced its latest renewal. The network said a third season of 10 episodes will be shown next year.
