Dear Diary:
On a recent Monday morning, I rush to the post office on Roosevelt Island to send a birthday card to a friend in Argentina.
Worried that the card might not arrive on time for her birthday, I asked the employee: âSir, do you know how long it takes for the card to get there? My friendâs birthday is on Friday.â
He thinks a minute and responds very seriously, âWell, since the pope is an Argentine and if you believe in God, there will be a miracle and the card will get there on time.â
