Michael Urie, who has become something of a New York stage regular (âAngels in America,â âThe Cherry Orchardâ) since the conclusion of TVâs âUgly Bettyâ (not to mention the quick cancellation of his recent âPartnersâ), will be back this spring in a new play by Jonathan Tolins (âThe Twilight of the Golds,â âSecrets of the Tradeâ).
Rattlestick Playwrights Theater announced on Monday that Mr. Urie will star in âBuyer & Cellar,â a new comedy by Mr. Tolins about a struggling actor who bonds with a superstar while cataloging the collectibles she keeps in her Malibu basement. (Similarities to Barbra Streisand are by no means discouraged.)
It will begin performances March 20 at Rattlestick, with opening night scheduled for April 3. Stephen Brackett is the director.
âBuyer & Cellarâ replaces âThe Correspondent,â by Ken Urban, which was postponed because of âscheduling conflictsâ according to a Rattlestick spokesman, who said it would âdefinitely happen next season.â
